There is no doubt, we live in interesting times. In Americans, be it immigrants, undocumented folks, minorities, LGBTQIA+ folks, POC, ect, our personal freedoms, and basic human rights, are being attacked, chipped away at one day after another. Since President Trump was Elected, we are witnessing a confusing onslaught of blitzkrieg attacks designed to throw the general population off guard and drain them of their will to resist. But we must.
The Box-knife is a small blog dedicated to providing resources to folks who are trying to keep their head above water and find small or big ways to make an impact. It can be challenging to see through everything that is going on to find out how to act effectively. This is by no means an exhaustive resource, as my own resources are finite, but I hope it can be a little light for some that pierces through the smoke.

This first thing to address I believe is the Boycott on companies pulling back from DEI initiatives. According to The Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance, "Consistent with President Trump’s campaign promises, the White House has taken swift and significant actions to roll back diversity, equity, and inclusion (“DEI”) programs and initiatives through executive orders."
In this youtube clip where he introduces the executive order to sign, Trump chooses interesting wording to describe DEI, painting the initiative itself as discriminatory, and mentions that it has done great harm for companies prioritizing inclusivity over intelligence or competence.
This CNN article below provides some history on the creation of DEI type programs, and dates them back to the civil rights movement of 1964, created to give folks an equal opportunity for jobs without being discriminated against.
Many companies have already pulled back from the initiative per the executive order, but many have not. Here is where we on the ground level have some power. Circulating in n many social media platforms (which is where I learned about is) is talk of boycotting the companies until Feb. 28th. But many people say, why stop there? If we continue to put pressure on these companies until the stock market feels it, that is when real change happens. The Dollar Speaks.
Target is one of the companies that is already feeling the heat from angry shareholders because of the boycott.
The link above provides a more extensive list, but the biggest names for people on the ground are:
Mcdonalds
Target
Walmart
Amazon
Meta (facebook, insta)
Speak with your money. The companies are already feeling the pressure, and history shows boycotts work. Buy somewhere else if you can. Here is short list of alternative stores that have continued to support the initiative.
Costco
Kroger
Safeway
Yahoo
Meijer
Giant Grocery
Ben & Jerry’s
Ulta,
Macy’s
Old Navy
Nordstrom’s
TJ Maxx
GoTo Foods ( Moe’s Southwest Grill, Mcalister’s, Auntie Anne’s, Jamba, Cinnabon…)
Dollar Tree
Walgreens

Pixel
This article also provides a list of alternative places to shop online instead of Amazon.
Some social media app alternatives
This is only one small way we can speak out. Stay tuned for more!
